With only a hand full of games left to play in the Regular season, the playoff picture looks like this –

In the North, Whitley Bay need 1 point to guarantee winning the Conference and the over all league title! The third and fourth playoff spots are still up for grabs with anyone from the Predators, Comets and Cobras still able to make the quarter finals.

In the South, The Peterborough Dynamo clenched the conference title and are hoping the Islanders lose their last game in order to secure the league title! The Jets need two points from their last two games to leap frog the Huskies into the final spot! All to play for and it’s tense!!

This weekend sees the return to the tournament of past winners the Atrincham Jets. The Jets won the playoffs in 2016 and subsequently took a couple of years away from the tournament. They face the newly formed Shropshire Huskies in Telford. We are very happy to see them back on the ice in NRHC action!

This weekend also sees the Durham Dragons make their tournament debut against the Kingston Cobras. We can not wait to see what the Dragons bring to the tournament this season. We have heard great things and they are a highly decorated team. This game is also the Cobras first outing in the NRHC this season too!

The playoff finals weekend will be held over the weekend of the 17th and 18th of August at Ice Sheffield and will feature the top 4 sides who qualify from the conference quarter finals!

The Semi finals will be held on the Saturday, with the 3rd vs. 4th playoff and grand final on the Sunday! Entry is free so come down and see the best of what UK rec hockey has to offer!

Just 2 days to go until this seasons Northern Rec Hockey Cup gets under way. It is fitting that last years play off finalists start this year off too. Peterborough of course narrowly beat the Vikings at Ice Sheffield that day. No doubt the Vikings will be looking for some revenge on Sunday in Peterborough!

A lot has happened to the tournament since the Playoff finals in August 2018. The tournament has expanded from one 6 team group, to two conferences made up of 5 teams each! The NRHC would like to take this opportunity to say a big welcome to our expansion teams –
